Artist Statement

I am a Canadian living in New York, working as an artist for over a decade. My academic background is in electroacoustics, animation and installation. I work across mediums as a means of building an all-encompassing artistic world that can provide a reprieve for its audience. I am interested in exploring the pleasurable spaces that connect the media we consume and the fantasies we create around them. To achieve this, I use a combination of animation, projection, print and sound to establish immersive worlds inspired by the Light and Space Movement, digital artists of the 2010s and electroacoustics.

Recently, my focus has been on generating communal healing sites through the artifice of domestic life. I aim to balance the virtual and the physical by projecting animations onto everyday objects such as pillows, bathtubs, venetian blinds, mylar, mirrors and spandex. My visual language often employs abstraction, brightly-colored gradients, geometric shapes and grids as a way to intervene against self-seriousness. These visual tropes serve as guides to aesthetic comfort and delight for me and the viewer.
